Big Bend and The Hill Country

For a multi-day camping trip that few get the pleasure of experiencing, head west to Big Bend where mountain vistas meet the West Texas desert. The Big Bend is a majestic National Park that is sparsely visited due to its remoteness from large urban areas. On the way you will travel through the South Texas Hill Country which is renowned for everything from its scenic vistas to old ranches and new vineyards. South Texas truly is a road trip paradise for oilfield workers with a love of nature and adventure.

Hunting and Shooting

There are many hunting destinations in South Texas depending on the tastes of the hunter. These range from bare bones hunting leases to guided hunting camps and exotic expeditions. The land itself supports large populations of deer, hogs, and quail. Target shooters will also have plenty of choices within San Antonio whether they want to practice clays and long guns or find a pistol range that suits their tastes.

 Fishing and Beaches

With Corpus Christi to the east of the Eagle Ford, there are opportunities for anglers to take trips into the Gulf of Mexico. Many fishers enjoy the benefit of using the artificial reefs caused by existing oil and gas production platforms as areas teeming with life. There is also an aircraft carrier converted into a floating museum that you may purchase a tour. When the family just wants to work on their tans without risking getting seasick, they can opt to hang out on the beach at South Padre island and soak up some South Texas sand and sun.
