Frac is short for “Hydraulic Fracturing,” which is a stimulation treatment performed to enhance the productivity of a completion. Enhanced productivity is achieved by placing high permeability proppant within a low permeability reservoir, especially near the wellbore. Permeability is most important in the near wellbore region than farther into the reservoir due to the importance of near effects in the diffusivity equation.
